The challenge
A research group’s website has several jobs: introduce the science, make publications discoverable, show the people doing the work, and help prospective collaborators or students learn more.
I built a website for the Shrivastava Lab at Arizona State University, a group working in biophysics, computational biology, and microbiology.
What I owned
I took ownership of the website’s design, implementation, and deployment. The site was built with Next.js and hosted on AWS.
This project gave me responsibility for the whole experience, from organizing the content to delivering the site.
Design and implementation
Make the research navigable
The site’s structure separates research, people, publications, software, and news. These destinations give different visitors a direct route to the information they need.
Put the people alongside the science
The homepage introduces the lab and its research areas, with team imagery giving the work a human context. The people and publications sections extend that introduction.
Carry the work through deployment
Building with Next.js and deploying on AWS meant taking the project beyond a local interface. Implementation and delivery were both part of my ownership.
The result
The lab gained a dedicated web presence for its research, team, publications, and software. For me, the project connected product thinking, front-end development, and deployment around a real stakeholder’s needs.
About the preview
